RH Org Naked Barley Porri 350 g
Long ago, when fur loincloths were skimpy, life was simple. You harvested your naked barley and you threshed it by hand. The husks came away easily leaving a single grain, packed with nutrition. Modern barley needs machines and polishing, it's not naked. With the help of some plucky British farmers we're bringing back this ancient grain. Join us and get in touch with your inner caveman. We'll bring the barley, you bring the loincloth.
Empire building stuff
Naked barley has been traced back 8000 years to Ancient Persia, then it travelled to Greece. The writer Pliny said, 'The Greeks prefer it to any other grain for porridge.' In Rome it became the favourite food of gladiators, who were nicknamed hordearii, or Barley Men. Ready to build an empire? Have a bowl of this and go get' em, tiger.

At Rude Health we began mixing mueslis at our breakfast table in 2005. Today we're still a family-owned company that makes breakfast cereals, dairy-free drinks and snacks, and we still create everything the same way. We only use the kinds of ingredients you'd have in your own kitchen - nothing artificial, nothing refined. We source our ingredients from fields, orchards and vines - not laboratories. The proof is in the taste.
